Position Aware Networking

Abstract
Ubiquitous computing technologies augment reality by integrating computers into the background of everyday life. These devices provide users with natural interfaces and automatically capture information about the user’s current activity, allowing people to devote less attention to computing. By monitoring a mobile user’s current social and physical environment, context-aware applications adapt to provide useful and natural information and services for the current situation.

This thesis defines a new network protocol for context-aware applications. The protocol supports data transmission between clients, servers and master servers based on position and time triggered actions. Position Aware Wireless Networking, an application of this protocol, was developed to enhance college campuses with contextual information.
